Tinned sweetcorn brand Green Giant has marked 100 years of its iconic mascot Jolly the Green Giant with a new on-pack promotion.

TINNED vegetables brand Green Giant is celebrating 100 years of its iconic mascot Jolly the Green Giant with a new on-pack promotion.

The loveable brand mascot has long been depicted in advertising for Green Giant across the century, complete with his famed catchphrase of “Ho Ho Ho!”, surveying the harvest to ensure each can of Green Giant contains only the sweetest and crunchiest corn.

To mark the 100-year anniversary, parent firm General Mills has introduced a new on-pack promotion offering consumers the chance to win a £100 cash prize. Shoppers have hundreds of chances to win this money as well, with the prize pool totalling £25,000.

To take part in the promotion, all consumers need do is purchase an eligible Green Giant products between now and 31 December, fill in an entry form on the brand’s website and find out if they have won the cash prize. Consumers are limited to max one main prize per person.

The on-pack promotion can be seen across four-packs of Green Giant’s best-selling Original and Salt-Free Sweetcorn variants.

And the promotion is already off to a strong start as Nielsen data has found that, within its first four weeks, household penetration for the brand has increased and has recruited new shoppers to the brand.

Jolly symbolises this long-standing dedication to quality, says General Mills, and is the very core of the brand’s DNA, which has played a significant role in Green Giant’s enduring success.
