UWS showcases a strong United future with biggest trade show yet

Crowne Plaza saw over 240 retailers attend United Wholesale Scotland’s biggest trade show yet

Over 90 suppliers gathered at the huge trade show to offer retailers exclusive deals from the Scottish wholesaler.

United Wholesale Scotland (UWS) showcased what the future held in store for its Day-Today estate across its annual trade show event.

Hosted at the Crowne Plaza Glasgow on 20 August, the event saw around 90 suppliers from across the UK offer retailers some exclusive deals and further cement their commitment to the Scottish convenience retail channel.

Over 250 UWS retailers were in attendance across the day as the wholesaler said it was the biggest trade show it has ever held.

Mike Leonard, symbol director at UWS, said: “We have expanded on our space from last year in a big way to accommodate more suppliers and bring more of our customers to the event as well.

“Feedback from the day has been superb from both retailers and suppliers.”

Retailers in attendance also had the opportunity to see the latest upgrades to the Day-Today store estate, including the new digital store transformations that have been taking place.

As part of the trade show, UWS had set up a Day-Today store display to showcase its new Spin to Win wheel mechanic as well as digital advertising screens.

This offered current Day-Today retailers a glimpse into the future of the symbol and highlighted the strengths that come with signing up to the fascia group.

Leonard said: “Digital has moved to the forefront for this year, we are now up to 35 stores that have received these digital installations and we’re looking further into escalating this.

“Our goal is to hit 150 stores by the middle of next year and we are well on the way to achieve this.”

The evening was rounded off with the ‘United in London’ dinner, where guests were encouraged to attend in fancy dress with a specific link to London.

The theme was chosen to celebrate the successful acquisition of a new wholesale depot for UWS in the London area after the firm purchased Time Wholesale Services’ location in the capital earlier in 2025.

Leonard said: “The evening gives us another chance to thank all of our supplier partners as well as our retail customers and recognise the hard work they have put in over the year.

“It lets them have the chance to let their hair down and celebrate with us in the success of the show and in being part of the United family.”
