Four Pillars Unity Hub and Gordon Rural Action receive support from MacB

CHARITIES in Aberdeen City and across Aberdeenshire have received financial support from Scottish water brand MacB through the brand’s Live Bold Community Fund.
Four Pillars Unity Hub & Café in Aberdeen and Gordon Rural Action have both been awarded donations by MacB to help fund and support the local communities around the organisations.
Four Pillars has received £1,000 of funding to support its 4Unity Hub & Café, as well as a donation of 200 bottles of MacB the charity can sell to further boost money.
The 4Unity Hub and Café provides a safe and welcoming space for members of the LGBT+ community to gather, connect and support one another and is seen as a vital drop-in space by many members of the community.
Brad Whittingham, Four Pillars LGBT+ inclusion advocate, said: “The Hub has suffered some damage due to leaks and general wear and tear. The funding will make a huge difference in helping us refresh and improve the environment for our staff and visitors.
“The donation of 200 bottles of MacB also allows us to raise additional funds that will support the growth of this essential service.”
Meanwhile, Gordon Rural Action will use its £1,000 grant to buy an interactive whiteboard for its Community Meeting Space which will allow the charity to deliver baby first aid and other training courses to members.
The charity is also investing in cupboards for new baby bank and uniform exchange facilities to allow the organisation to store nappies and wipes safely.
MacB has also made £1,000 donations to Fraserburgh Ramblers 50+ walking group, Banff RFC and Banff Castle Pipe Band to support these local organisations.
Alana Cook, events organiser at Banff Castle Pipe Band, said: “The support has helped us replace worn-out equipment and get essentials like new ties for our uniforms.
“As a non-profit with no tuition fees and practice twice a week, having good instruments and updated kit really goes a long way to help us keep traditional music alive in Aberdeenshire.”
MacB’s Live Bold Community Fund aims to fuel local community projects across the whole of Scotland with a focus on those businesses that boost healthier lifestyles, inspire physical activity and spread joy to members of the local community.
Nelly Edwards, brand manager for MacB, said: “We’ve been producing water in Macduff for over 40 years and we’ve seen first-hand how local projects spark change and bring people together.
“We want to support organisations that have real impact in the community and this year’s Live Bold Fund recipients really inspired us.
“We have always cared deeply about the people in the communities where we want to make a positive difference.
“We are committed to helping organisations and projects that benefit people’s lives through our Live Bold Fund.”
