Biona takes consumers on an odyssey of olive discovery

ORGANIC foods brand Biona has announced the launch of a new range of organic Greek olives to bolster the demand for Mediterranean flavours.
The new range consists of three different variants of Greek Queen Olives that have each been stuffed with extra ingredients for added flavour. This includes a Greek Queen Olives Stuffed with Garlic, Greek Queen Olives Stuffed with Pepper or Greek Queen Olives Stuffed with Jalapeños.
Further to the Greek Queen variety, Biona has also introduced a new Organic Kalamta Olives, a dark purple coloured olive from the southern Peloponnese island in Greece.
All four variants are certified as organic, with no artificial preservatives or additives and sit in brine to help preserve them. Each jar comes with an RRP of £3.69.
Further to this, each of the Olives come pitted as well, making them an extra convenient choice for consumers to add to their tables – whether this be as a snack or to bulk out a salad.
This new range comes as Biona says table olives have become an increasingly popular addition to the dinner and hosting occasions. Total sales for the category are now valued at over £100million, says parent firm Windmill Organics, and consumption steadily rose to an estimated 45,000 tonnes last year.
Carmen Ferguson, brand manager at Windmill Organics, said: “With a growing number of consumers now recognising the benefits of following a mediterranean-style diet, we are excited to bring this new range of Greek table olives to market, with their unique hand-stuffed combinations.
“Made with the iconic premium Halkidiki and Kalamata olives, each of the four varieties showcase organic ingredients, no artificial preservatives, colourants or GMOs (genetically modified organisms), but most importantly of all taste great, so will be popular with those consumers looking for a healthy snack, a salad ingredients or those entertaining guests.”
