The Light version will now be available in 4x440ml can packs and a 10x440ml pack.
Tennent’s Light brand, which is 3.4% ABV and gluten-free, is already available in a 10x440ml multipack in selected Morrisons stores but will roll out to others including Tesco and Sainsbury’s in the coming months and will also be available in 4x440ml packs.
The launch is to capture the trend of moderation amongst younger consumers who want to limit their alcohol intake, and also offer an option for people with intolerances.
Joanne Motion, senior brand manager for Tennent’s Lager, said: “It’s great to see our new Tennent’s Light 440ml cans coming into stores and we’re delighted to be able to offer a range of pack sizes, especially as we come into the summer months when people might be hosting bigger social gatherings or looking for a small pack to grab-and-go.
“The trend for moderating isn’t going anywhere, and Tennent’s Light is a great option for those looking for the same refreshing taste but with a lower ABV to Tennent’s Lager. Introducing new pack formats and moving to 440ml cans reflects the changing needs of consumers in the category and represents a strong addition to the full Tennent’s range.”
To celebrate the launch Tennent’s Light is running a gift with purchase where consumers can get a Tennent’s Light pint glass on any pack purchased in Morrisons from the 18th of June.
The brewer launched Tennent’s Light in the off-trade in 2020 as a 330ml bottle, sold in multipack formats of 12x330ml and 6x4x330ml case sizes. In 2023, it moved into producing the brand in a 330ml can.
Tennent’s has consistently remained the no 1 Scottish Alcohol Brand as ranked by Kantar. The brand, owned by C&C Group, has experienced turbulent times in the last couple of years, but the arrival of ex-AG Barr chief executive Roger White has seen a turnaround going by its annual results reported this May.
