Hovis bakes up a buzz of innovation for category

BAKED goods firm Hovis has unveiled a string of new innovations for the category with a new range of Sub Rolls and three new loaves.
Arriving on shelves from June, the new products will aim to add value to the bakery range, says Hovis, and encourage more trade up opportunities to more premium end options.
The launch of Hovis Sub Rolls sees the bread brand increase the breadth of its product range for lunch time occasions, with a selection of different flavours for consumers to choose from.
Hovis Sub Rolls will roll out in two standard variants with Buttermilk and Cheese & Herb rolls as well as in Buttermilk Protein Sub Rolls and Sunflower & Honey Protein Sub Rolls for consumers wanting to add extra protein into their diets. Each Protein Sub Roll contains 12g of protein.
The standard Sub Rolls will hit shelves from 4 June, whilst the Protein packed variants will roll out from 9 June. The standard Sub Rolls come in packs of four roll with an RRP of £2 per pack, while the Protein variants come in packs of two rolls with an RRP of £1.40 per pack.
Also new for the summer, Hovis will introduce a trio of loaf options consisting of White n’ Fibre, Farmhouse Batch Wholemeal with Oats and Signature White.
The White n’ Fibre offers consumers a white loaf with 50% more fibre in it, when compared to standard options, and is also a source of Vitamin D.
Meanwhile, the Farmhouse Batch Wholemeal with Oats follows on from the successful roll out of the Farmhouse Batch White loaf in October 2024. This new addition has been baked using a golden wholemeal starter dough to add some extra value to the wholemeal bread category.
Finally, the Signature White loaf looks to tap into the rising popularity of sourdough to deliver a richer taste for shoppers. Developed exclusively with Tesco, the Signature White aims to offer a light, airy textured bread with a mellow flavour.
The Farmhouse Batch Wholemeal will hit shelves on 3 June and will be followed up on 9 June by both the White n’ Fibre and Signature White variants. The Signature White loaf will be exclusive to Tesco stores. The trio of loaves have an RRP of £1.65.
Mark Brown, chief marketing officer at Hovis, said: “We’re excited to launch a series of new products to the category which are the culmination of months of consumer insight analysis, followed by recipe and product development work with our expert bakers and cross-functional teams.
“We have worked diligently to ensure we’re offering shoppers premium yet accessible, everyday options that will tap into different meal options and provide the consumer with something different from a brand they know and love.”
