Spar stores cater towards changing bakery demands
UK symbol group Spar has expanded on its bakery range offer with its new White Toastie Thick Sliced bread loaf.
The new addition sits alongside the popular medium sliced option, which was introduced in February 2024, and offering shoppers greater variety in their shop and cater to a changing demand for more indulgent bakery options.
The new loaf is available now in Spar stores across Scotland, England and Wales and has an RSP of 99p.
Spar said the launch addresses a growing market trend, with own-label bread sales on the rise across the symbol’s stores and thick sliced bread gaining significant popularity with it.
By introducing this format, Spar reckons it will be able to fill a key gap in the market.
Katy Button, Spar UK trading controller, said: “The new SPAR white thick sliced bread offers shoppers exceptional quality and value, reflecting the growing demand for own label products. Meeting customer needs is a priority for us, and introducing this variety ensures we cater to a wide range of preferences.
“In 2025, we plan to expand the range by introducing a brown or wholemeal option. This initiative will drive greater volume and deliver even better value to our customers.”
