Encourage shoppers to make the most out of Burns Day
JANUARY can often be key for the whisky category, with two celebrations that Scots can raise their drams to that top and tail the month.
Whether it be for the Bells or for Burns, there are plenty of Scottish consumers that pour themselves a goldie during the month and, when it comes to the Bard’s national day in particular, whisky brand The Glen Grant has showcased its range of options to consider.
Burns Night will bring together plenty of Scots along with the “chieftan of the puddin’ race”, so a dram made for sharing will be on the cards for plenty. To match this demand, The Glen Grant has recommended its 10 Year Old expression, with an RRP of £30.
This single malt has spent a decade aging in bourbon casks, helping to deliver some lighter tastes through it, with soft malt and honey on the nose.
For those looking for a more fruity tipple to accompany the Cranachan, or indeed to splash into the dessert, then The Glen Grant 12 Year Old will be the order of the evening. Featuring layers of apple pie, toffee, caramel and almonds, this sweeter dram has an RRP of £42.44 and is sure to keep some fruity notes lingering away.
And for those looking to savour the evening, The Glen Grant reckons its 15 Year Old single malt will be ideal to pass the time together and “spin a verse or twa o’ rhyme”. This 50% ABV dram has been crafted by master distiller Dennis Malcolm and offers a richer palate of spiced pear, apricot and vanilla, leaving a nutty finish. This single malt comes with an RRP of £65.75.
Though to make the night truly a special one, then a more special bottle will be in demand. With this in mind, The Glen Grant has suggested the 18 Year Old Expression with tastes of vanilla, butterscotch and raisins with hints of spice.
Although this dram has the higher RRP of £110, The Glen Grant believes it to be perfect for a special occasion, with a long finish on the palate to help savour this more premium end option.
