FORGET about Black Friday – bosses at Nisa say it’s time for Pink Friday.

Making a Difference Locally (MADL), Nisa’s dedicated charity, has launched this annual event to turn the spotlight from retail bargains to the incredible community support provided by the symbol group’s retailers all year round.

Pink Friday, which debuts today (Friday, 29 November), aims to celebrate the generosity and compassion that Nisa retailers bring to their local communities.

MADL head of charity Kate Carroll said: “While Black Friday focuses on commerce, we wanted to create something that brings a splash of pink positivity to November, celebrating the generosity and kindness that define our stores. This is just the beginning of something special.”

The charity is already looking ahead to 2025, with plans to grow the event, adding even more pink-themed activities and opportunities for Nisa retailers to champion their communities in creative ways.

MADL raises funds in Nisa partner stores from sales of all Co-op and Heritage own-label products, with a percentage going into a virtual fund for retailers to donate. Additional funds can also be raised via in-store collecting tins and clothing banks.

Stores are then able to donate these funds to a local charity or good cause of their choice within a 10 mile radius, ensuring money raised will benefit the local community.

More than £18million has been raised by Making a Difference Locally for good causes across the UK to date.
