DECONGESTANT oil brand Olbas is out to support parents during the winter season to fight back against seasonal illness plaguing their children.

The brand has kicked off a new campaign as part of its ongoing series to support families during the winter, with a renewed focus on helping parents to manage work and family obligations when illness strikes.

Recent research commissioned by Olbas found that cold and flu season has a significant impact on working families, with seven in 10 parents choosing to take time off work to care for an unwell child.

Further to this, many parents report that their own health suffers as a result of taking care of an ill child as they juggle caregiving and work responsibilities, with 64% reporting they feel rundown when caring for sick children. Additionally, 65% said that when one family member falls ill, other soon follow, creating a domino effect in the household.

The new campaign aims to highlight these issues through an informative video on the Olbas website, to highlight how the brand will be able to support families suffering from winter illnesses.

Dr. Roger Henderson, family GP and spokesperson for Olbas, said: “Retailers and pharmacists should encourage customers to recognise early symptoms such as fatigue, headaches, or a scratchy throat to help prevent illness from worsening.

“Reminding them to rest early on not only aids recovery but also helps curb the spread of illness, whether at home or in the workplace.

“For children, who are more vulnerable as their immune systems are still developing, it’s especially important to prioritise rest, hydration and balanced nutrition for better resilience against winter bugs.”

With this in mind, Olbas’ new campaign aims to build further awareness of how parents can help to battle back against winter illnesses with the help of the brand’s range of products.

And, with this in mind, the brand has recommended retailers should stay well-stocked on a range of winter remedy options from the Olbas brand.

Rachel Ramsden, brand manager at Olbas, said: “Parents are often stretched thin between work and family responsibilities, and when cold and flu season hits, it can be overwhelming. Our research shows the resilience of modern parents, many of whom are working full-time while managing the unpredictability of family health.

“We’re dedicated to helping retailers equip families with the essential solutions for managing the seasonal influx of colds and sniffles. By ensuring that trusted products are readily available, we support retailers in becoming a reliable resource for families as the winter season approaches.”
