INDEPENDENT distiller Eden Mill has revealed the latest release in its ‘Art os St Andrews’ series which celebrates the brand’s home town.

Marking the latest annual release for the series, the new bottle for 2024 sees a collaboration with rural Scotland-based artist Babs Pease, who said she was inspired by the coastal town of St Andrews in the design for this new release.

The bespoke artwork depicts University of St Andrews students doing the customary ‘Pier Walk’ in their red gowns, with the town’s iconic cathedral depicted above the harbour village with other homages to the area’s local sea life and golfing history.

Pease said: “I take a lot of my artistic inspiration from the towns and villages along the Fife coast, so it was great to capture the energy and history of St Andrews harbour with this commission.”

The 2024 release has been matured in a combination of Amarone red wine casks from Italty’s Veneto region alongside Oloroso and Pedro XimĂ©nez sherry casks from Jerez in Spain.

The resulting flavour profile has been described as cinnamon spice and juicy red fruits on the nose with a transition to dark fruits – like cherry and blackberry – on the palate.

‘The Art of St Andrews’ is bottled at 46.5% ABV and retailers for ÂŁ150 with only 2,250 bottles produced for the annual release. Further to this, the first 100 sold on the website will also come with a free 50ml sample of the dram.

Hannah Ingram, head of marketing at Eden Mill, said: “With the Art of St Andrews release this year we wanted to showcase familiar sights and scenes from our hometown that will be instantly recognisable for locals and tourists alike.

“From St Andrews cathedral and the iconic red gowns of the University students, to the lone golfer chipping out of a bunker – there’s something for everyone.

“This stunning artwork is matched by a whisky with rich red wine notes from the Amarone casks which are balanced with sherry sweetness.”
