Scotland Food & Drink issues pointers for net zero goal
SCOTLAND Food & Drink (SFD) has unveiled the next step in its sustainability commitment towards net zero with a new handbook.
Produced as part of the Scotland Food & Drink Net Zero Commitment, the new Navigating Net Zero Handbook offers key net zero advice with practical support to aid businesses in their own sustainability efforts.
This includes a chapter-by-chapter breakdown of the firm’s approach to net zero such as a look at renewable energy sources, the damage of greenhouse gases and the impact climate change has on people across the world.
This also highlights real-life examples of differences being made, for example, with wine production in England.
SFD said the new handbook – which is available to download for free – will help Scotland’s food and drink businesses to have the tools to reduce their emissions in line with the national target of 2045.
Iain Clunie, FDF net zero programme director, said: “As members of the food and drink industry, it is crucial that we take proactive steps to reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to the global effort against climate change.
“Understanding the language around emissions and net zero is vital for driving real change in Scotland’s food and drink industry.
“By knowing and understanding these key terms, businesses can better engage in conversations, interpret data and make informed sustainability decisions.”
