An aged expression fit for the King
GLASGOW-BASED Courageous Spirits has launched its first ever age-statement whisky under the King’s Inch brand with its new 8 Year Old expression.
Hand-selected by the team at Courageous, the new King’s Inch 8 Year Old (46% ABV) is priced at £49 and was chosen from a mix of Bourbon casks and Sherry butts in a small vatting of just 1,500 bottles.
The firm has said the new launch marks an “ultimate example” of a Bourbon and Sherry cask vatting which has been specifically bottled at a younger age statement.
The resulting dram comes golden in colour with a tinge of amber with flavours described as notes of subtle sweetness on the palate with tropical fruit and dried raisins that then lead into a spiced oak and ginger.
Not only this, but the launch of the new 8 Year Old expression coincides with a larger release from Courageous Spirits as the firm unveiled the opening of its brand-new premises based on Lancefield Street in Glasgow.
The company has an ambition to bring all of its brands in under one roof – which includes the Glaswegin brand – through the new project with plans to introduce their own urban distillery in the new building, plans for which are set to be unveiled later this year.
Andy McGeoch, managing director and founder of Courageous Spirits, said: “We’ve always known King’s Inch is special since its launch in 2021. The awards and customers feedback gave us a real confidence in the spirit.
“We’re now at a point where we can experiment with casks and see how the spirit reacts. That to us, is a really exciting prospect – one that will continue to bring the best of our King’s Inch spirit. We really look forward to hearing feedback from our customers, good or bad!
“At Courageous Spirits, our team really takes pride in our work, and pride for our city. Out brands continue to go from strength to strength and to have our new premises bring everything under one roof, makes our future very promising as we expand the vision of Courageous Spirits.”
