Attract the whisky curious shopper this month
AS National Scotch Day looms its head across the whisky curious consumers of Scotland, now could be an ideal time to introduce some new and experimental drams to the store.
Offering the opportunity to bring in some new brands to the store in time for National Scotch Day on 27 July, William Grant & Sons hasn’t been shy in shouting out some new launches across its well-kent expressions.
First up is the Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch Whisky 14 Year Old Bourbon Barrel which comes in a blue outer case with a retail price of £48. William Grant & Sons has described this whisky as being rich and sweet on the palate with flavours of creamy toffee, woody spices, candied orange peel and fresh toasted oak.
This new dram is also a first for Glenfiddich as well as the new 14 Year Old expression is the brand’s first whisky to be matured in two types of American oak barrel.
While the Glenfiddich offers consumers a more well known and safe option for their whisky choice on the national day, there will be plenty of shoppers who are looking to expand their horizons and try their hand with some less explored brands such as The Balvenie.
Aiming to cover this demand as well, William Grant & Sons has launched two new expressions for The Balvenie with one covering the demand for a more premium option for those shoppers out there looking to spend extra on the day.
Dubbed The Balvenie’s A Collection of Curious Casks, the new additions sees a 14 Year Old American Bourbon Barrel as well as an 18 Year Old French Pineau Cask join the brand’s ranks.
First up is the 14 Year Old American Bourbon Cask, coming with a retail price of £89 per bottle, this new launch for The Balvenie highlights the brand’s ambition for constant innovation in the whisky space with flavours described as orange, oak, vanilla, malt, toffee and honey.
Following up on this is the 18 Year Old French Pineau Cask which is a regional French fortified wine made in the southwest region of the country.
This dram comes at the pricier cost of £300 a bottle, helping to offer a wider range of options for whisky curious shoppers who are looking to treat themselves, as well as loved ones, this summer.
With flavours described as grape, butterscotch, vanilla, dried fruit, nutmeg and honeysuckle this is a more unique dram for The Balvenie and one not to be missed out on with whisky enthusiasts, says William Grant & Sons.
