WONKY vegetables crisps firm Growers Garden is set for the supermarkets after securing funding from HSBC UK.

The Scottish manufacturer of the Broccoli Chips brand is set to enter the major multiple supermarkets later this year after the firm received £510,000 in funding from HSBC, with an ambition to grow the business’ operations through the funding.

The money is set to go towards increasing storage capacity three-fold for the Cupar-based firm, allowing the facility to accommodate the half-a-million units of stock necessary to supply new supermarket customers.

Further to this, the existing manufacturing equipment will also undergo modifications to streamline the process of directly supplying the grocery giants.

Coenraad Horn, relationship manager at HSBC UK, said: “The Scottish agricultural industry is a core focus for HSBC UK and we’re passionate about nurturing growth within the sector by working with innovative companies like Growers Garden.”

Martin Peel, managing director at Growers Garden, said: “We’ve made the ambitious and exciting step to getting our products in supermarkets across the UK, thanks to HSBC UK’s support and clear passion for Scottish agriculture.

“We’re very excited to be working towards significant growth as a business focused on reducing waste and encouraging health eating through locally sourced ingredients.”
