Checkout Scotland, organised by the Scottish GroceryAid branch committee, is once again promising a brilliant line-up.

THE volunteers of the GroceryAid Scotland committee are all systems go for a busy second half of the year.

Plans are well under way for the branch’s flagship music event, Checkout Scotland, which promises a cracking line-up of acts.

The fundraiser will be returning to the BAaD in Glasgow on Thursday, 5 September, and organisers are expecting 750 to 800 people to attend.

Independent retailers, wholesalers, Scottish brands and national supporters can expect to enjoy an evening of networking, fundraising and live entertainment alongside a host of activations from sponsors.

Meanwhile, the Just Dae It campaign, involving supporters taking on various physical and wellbeing activities, is going from strength to strength.

While participation in the Kiltwalks across Scotland continues to raise significant sums, people are also being encouraged to organise their own events in support of GroceryAid.

Work is also under way to ensure the Christmas hampers initiative is a huge success once again. The committee aims to raffle off 75 hampers, many containing “Golden Ticket” experiences.

The Retail Trust expands mental health support

THE Retail Trust has expanded its tie-in with digital mental health platform SilverCloud to include both counsellor-led and self-guided support.

The charity works with more than 200 retail firms to improve staff wellbeing, and employees got access to SilverCloud’s self-guided programmes of tools, content and activities last year.

The expanded SilverCloud partnership means retail workers can also receive coaching from a trained counsellor, who will provide further support, motivation and encouragement.

SilverCloud can be accessed any time via the Retail Trust’s website to provide internet-based cognitive behavioural therapy (iCBT) programmes for stress, anxiety, depression and other conditions. The platform can also measure mental health risks and improvements.

It forms part of an extensive package of wellbeing support from the Retail Trust for the retailers it works with, and other services include a virtual GP service, financial aid and wellbeing training for staff.

Chris Brook-Carter, chief executive of the Retail Trust, said: “People working in retail continue to face huge uncertainty around everything from rising levels of retail crime to the high cost of living, so it’s important we provide access to vital services like this that will protect and strengthen their mental health.”
