Growing the plant-based offering across stores
MEAT alternative brand Squeaky Bean, part of The Compleat Food Group, has expanded its range into the meal kits and snacking markets with four new products.
Aiming to introduce more plant-based options for across the day, the brand has launched its new Hoison Duck Style Pancakes Meal Kit which include Squeaky Bean’s Duck Style Pieces alongside six pancakes and hoison sauce as a convenient meat equivalent meal, ideal for an easy lunch, midweek dinner or ‘fakeaway’ option.
Cooked up in just three minutes, the new Hoison Duck Style Pancakes are available in select Tesco stores now for £4 RRP as well as from the supermarket’s online store.
Building on the options for plant-based diets in store as well, Squeaky Bean has been building up the snacks options for consumers with three new launches including Southern Fried Straws, Duck and Hoison Style Bites and BBQ Pork Style Rolls.
The range aims to tap into the growing trend for snacking occasions as well as a ‘picky tea’— a dinner made up of multiple small parts that tend to cross over multiple cuisines.
The Southern Fried Straws has been made using wheat and pea protein which have been coated in crunchy breadcrumbs with a blend of herbs and spices.
The Duck and Hoison Style Bites combines Squeaky Bean’s duck style pieces with a seasoning of five Chinese spices, dipped in traditional Hoison sauce and encased in crispy breadcrumbs.
Finally, the BBQ Pork Style Balls offers a modern take on the British classic, made up of light puff pastry stuffed with Squeaky Bean pork style pieces and seasoned with a smoky blend of herbs and spices such as smoked paprika and cayenne pepper.
All three come in 180g boxes at an RRP of £3 each and are also available in both Tesco’s stores and website.
Becky Youseman, marketing controller at Squeaky Bean, said: “As the number one brand in ready-to-eat plant-based pieces, we’re experts in creating amazing meat-alternatives that are not only convenient, but taste just as good, if not better, than their meat counterparts.
“This is why, when we spotted demand for both meal kits and plant-based snacks, we knew we could use our expertise to add value to the category and bring excitement to more eating occasions, from picnics to ‘fakeaways’.
“We’re thrilled to launch these new products, making it even easier for people to enjoy plant-based and choosing it because they love it, not because they have to.”
