ICE cream brand Mackie’s of Scotland has recorded a 15% increase in turnover through an upsurge in UK and international markets.

Turnover at the family-owned business rose to £20.8million for the 2022-23 financial year.

Mackie’s saw its UK market share in premium ice cream rise by 13%, while its export sales grew by 27%.

As a result, the Aberdeenshire firm expanded its workforce to more than 100 employees for the first time in its history.

Ice cream sales of more than 13.3million litres were the backbone of the strong revenues, although Mackie’s also saw a 33% rise in chocolate sales.

Managing director of Mackie’s, Stuart Common, said: “This landmark achievement reflects the progress Mackie’s has made over the years and shows the strength of our brand and products.

“We’re extremely proud of what we have accomplished together and look forward to achieving even greater success in the years to come.”

New hire is just the tonic for Eldorado

SCOTTISH tonic wine Eldorado has a new champion to expand its presence in new markets.

Kerr Mclaren has been appointed as UK business development manager for Differentiator Brands, a subsidiary of Glasgow-based wholesaler JW Filshill, to succeed Paul Doran, who is retiring.

Mclaren said: “I’ve been working alongside Paul to learn more about the brand, its current markets and identify growth areas.

“It’s a thrilling proposition for me to be in this new position to take ownership of an exciting alcohol brand with such huge potential to reach new markets both in Scotland and across the UK.”

PayPoint and ScottishPower’s new service

ScottishPower customers can now use PayPoint to add credit to their smart meters.

 

PAYPOINT and ScottishPower are now allowing customers with smart meters to add credit using the payment service firm’s network.

ScottishPower customers now have an additional 28,000 PayPoint retail locations where they can add credit to their energy meter in cash or card, increasing the convenience of topping up in store.

Jo Toolan, PayPoint client services director, said: “Our retail partners play an important role in their communities, and the range of services they provide, including the expansion of this partnership with ScottishPower, will bring more customers to their stores.”
