Islay malt unveils its new limited edition glass

Smokehead has launched its bespoke and hand-crafted new whisky drinking glass, made from black glass.

AWARD-winning Islay single malt whisky brand Smokehead has launched its new bespoke whisky glass, designed by renowned glassblower Elliot Walker.

The new Smokemask glass will help to heighten the whisky drinking experience according to the whisky brand, as the design covers the nose as consumers drink from it.

Ian Weir, brand director at Smokehead, said: “Elliot’s winning glassware design is truly a work of art, and it’s been really exciting to watch this project unfold.

“Naturally, we had to make sure our Smokehead family were included in the process so it was imperative to include them in the vote for the final design.

“This project enables us to stay true to our ethos that Smokehead never limits the ways its whisky can be enjoyed.”

Hand-blown from black glass into the distinct design by Walker, the limited-edition glass is available to purchase from the brand’s website for a price of £120 RRP each due to its very limited number and hand-crafted nature.

Walker, who rose to prominence following his appearance on Netflix competition show ‘Blown Away’, had been hand selected by the brand to design the new glass.

Smokehead announced in summer of this year that the brand was out to rethink whisky drinking with a prototype selection with the final design chosen by its core audience via the brand’s social media channels.

Walker said: “Partnering with Smokehead on this unusual project is a major highlight in my career to date.

“Smokehead is leading the charge on innovation within the whisky category and is unafraid of breaking boundaries, just like I am with my sculptures.

“I’m a huge fan of the brand so it’s an exciting challenge to create a bespoke item that matches the brand’s rebellious and innovative nature.

“Not only is this glass a bold statement,  it is also a functional enhancement of the drinking experience by covering the nose whilst drinking, the aromas should only make your drink taste better.”
