ORGANISERS of Checkout Scotland have unveiled a stellar line-up for the GroceryAid music event.

Crossover dance music icon Example will headline the bash, which takes place on 31 August at Barras Art & Design in Glasgow.

He will be joined by Irish girl group B*Witched and Scottish indie rock band The Supernaturals.

Up to 1,000 people are expected to attend the charity fundraiser, which also aims to drive up awareness of GroceryAid following the success of last year’s inaugural gig.

The music event will bring together hundreds of retailers, wholesalers, Scottish brands and their staff – with street food, bars and sponsored stands alongside the musical acts, which also includes some well-known DJs.

GroceryAid Scotland co-chair Peter Steel said: “Checkout Scotland is the perfect opportunity to catch up with industry colleagues and see brands come together to have a memorable night.”

And while there are still opportunities to get involved, fellow co-chair and One O One head of operations Jim Harper has been explaining the benefits  of becoming a Checkout Scotland sponsor.

He said being a supporter of the event had not only raised awareness for the One O One brand within the industry – sitting alongside so many fantastic national brands – but had also allowed colleagues to gain a greater understanding of GroceryAid and its work.

Harper said: “The Scottish grocery marketplace is made up of so many businesses and Checkout Scotland is for everyone in the industry – small or large.

“Many of those businesses’ employees could benefit from GroceryAid’s free emotional, practical and financial support that can be accessed through the confidential helpline or website.”

He pointed out that sponsors would get the chance to speak to everyone within the industry on the day in a relaxed environment, describing it as a “unique opportunity”.

Harper added: “Tickets for the event would be a fantastic way to reward and recognise some of the amazing work that is done in the industry by our colleagues.”
