GroceryAid festival is a big success

HUNDREDS of retailers, suppliers and store staff gathered in Glasgow last month for a new festival in support of GroceryAid Scotland.

Checkout Scotland is the largest event ever hosted by the Scottish branch of industry charity GroceryAid. The event brought together more than 600 industry colleagues and 18 sponsors for a night of celebration and live music.

Attendees were treated to performances from headline acts including Sophie Ellis-
Bextor, Scouting for Girls and The Feeling.

Retailers and staff in attendance were also able to catch up with the latest developments from the brands that back GroceryAid.

The event, which was held at the Barras Art & Design in Glasgow, has proven popular
according to GroceryAid Scotland and next year’s festival has already been confirmed.

Checkout Scotland 2023 will take place on 31 August with the venue to be confirmed.

Peter Steel, co-chair of GroceryAid in Scotland, said: “The impact on awareness is
really the key thing and what it was all about.

“The sheer number of attendees and companies – the fact we had so many parts of the trade engaged because we gave them the opportunity – was fantastic.

“If it means that more people get in touch with GroceryAid when they are in need then that’s a success.”
