MORE than 15,000 people have signed a petition calling on Glasgow City Council to endorse the Plant Based Treaty – which was launched at COP26.
Last month, Edinburgh became the first capital in Europe to join the initiative to tackle food-related emissions from animal agriculture and deforestation.
Supporter and Edinburgh Green councillor Steve Burgess said: “We have a fantastic opportunity to encourage far more plant-based eating.”
Treaty comms boss Nicola Harris added: “Promoting plant-based food across Edinburgh will help residents make informed choices that are better for the planet, personal health and animal protection.”
