GroceryAid’s Scottish committee will host a one-day festival this September.

MOVE over TRNSMT, the team at GroceryAid is bringing a big music event to Glasgow, with all monies raised being used to fund the charity’s work supporting industry colleagues.

The ‘Checkout Scotland’ event will take place on 1 September, offering staff working in retail the chance to enjoy a musical celebration in recognition of their efforts during the Covid crisis, all while supporting a good cause.

The venue and lineup is still to be confirmed, but Scottish Grocer understands announcements on both are forthcoming.

Peter Steel, joint-chair of GorceryAid’s Scottish committee, said support for the event from the industry has been “simply fantastic.”

“We have already signed up a brilliant list of partners or the event.

“Our headline sponsor is AG Barr, and main bar sponsor is Tennent’s, Bobby’s Foods, Brewdog, Snappy Shopper, Ian MacLeod distillers, Highland Spring and Filshill have all committed to supporting us and we are in conversation with other potential sponsors.

“We still have sponsorship packages available, and tickets are priced at an extremely attractive £60 plus VAT.

“We are confident of filling the venue on the day with over 700 attendees supporting GroceryAid while celebrating the outstanding achievements of the industry over the last two years.”
