
RETAILERS who have coffee machines in their store may soon have to charge customers who take a single-use cup.
The Scottish Government has announced plans to create a cup charge similar to the carrier bag fee.
The level of the charge will be subject to consultation.
Environment secretary Roseanna Cunningham said:
“For Scotland to become a net zero society, we need a fundamental re-think about how we use and reuse materials and how we handle waste. That is why I am proposing further bold action.”
