ENGLAND’s chief medical officer Dame Sally Davies has welcomed a think tank’s proposal to introduce plain packs for sweets and fizzy drinks.
Davies, who is currently leading a review of measures to tackle childhood obesity, said the proposals had the “potential to be part of the solution to the obesity crisis.”
The proposals were put forward by IPPR, which describes itself as “the progressive policy think tank.”
Other proposals put forward by IPPR included raising the legal smoking age to 21 and banning TV advertising for ‘fast food’, soft drinks and confectionery before 9pm.
