CONSUMERS are increasingly looking for alternatives to chocolate at Easter and Valentine’s Day, causing the market for sugar confectionery to grow rapidly, says Swizzels.
Sales director Mark Walker said: “The latest figures show Easter-themed sugar confectionery is worth £1.7m over the six weeks of Easter, with gifting items and larger variety products accounting for the majority of sales.”
And he said Swizzels’ Easter products experienced strong sales growth in 2017 with tubs up by 8% compared to the previous year and the Spring Selection bag growing by 53%.
The Swizzels Easter range is being expanded this year with the addition of Fun Mix.
Walker said: “Featuring a novelty Easter bunny design, Fun Mix is sure to catch the eye of parents and other family members looking for a treat to entertain children during the Easter break.
“Filled with a variety of Swizzels’ much-loved sweets such as Double Lollies, Love Hearts and Drumstick lollies, the pack also contains wax crayons, a colouring page and a selection of fun puzzles.”
