Flavours set to pop up

POPCORN has proved one of the fastest growing segments of the snacks market in recent years. And it’s moving into a wider range of pack sizes and formats; popcorn multipacks are in growth according to Butterkist which reports a 33.7% year-on-year rise.
Now the brand has made its Sweet Cinema Style and its new Yogurt Coated popcorn available in multipacks.
Senior brand manager Anjna Mistry said: “Our Butterkist Sweet Cinema Style sharing bag is the best-selling flavour in the popcorn market and we’re confident that our new multipack format will hold appeal for consumers who are discovering popcorn as a healthy snack alternative.”
Both flavours are packed in six-bag multipacks with an RRP of £1.69.

Butterkist says that multipack is one of the fastest growing pack styles in popcorn. One of the newest flavours in an expanding market is Marmite Popcorn a collaboration by Unilever and Joe & Seph’s.

• Propercorn has created a new style for its sharing bags.
A panel on the front of the bag can be removed so consumers can use the pack in the style of a bowl. The new pack has been introduced for Sweet & Salty and Lightly Sea Salted flavours; each has an RRP of £1.69.
Propercorn founder Ryan Kohn said: “Sharing is in growth but wellbeing remains top of the agenda, with people increasingly demanding tastier, healthier snack alternatives to enjoy with friends or at work. Our tear to share format is a real first in popcorn.”

• New to the popcorn market is Marmite flavour popcorn produced by Unilever and Popcorn brand Joe & Seph’s.
Senior licensing manager at Unilever Chloe Irwin said: “The Popcorn category is one of the biggest success stories of the last five years, more than doubling in size from 2010 to 2015 and growing 30% last year.”
