SUPERMARKET giant Tesco signalled that it intended to drive further into convenience retailing when it announced poor trading results last month.
Chief executive Philip Clarke said the organisation planned to open 150 more Tesco Expresses in the UK in the coming year, and refresh another 450. It aimed to become the best convenience retailer, he said.
Tesco’s results for the year showed sales, like-for-like sales and trading profit all down.
