LOWLANDS whisky distillery The Glasgow Distillery has unveiled the latest additions to its Glasgow 1770 whisky range with the new Batch 2 series.

Rolled out as part of an annual release for the Glasgow 1770 range, the new Batch 2 releases consists of the new Bourbon Cask Matured and Ruby Port Cask Finished single malts, alongside an entirely new dram from the brand with the Sherry Cask Matured expression.

The annual limited edition releases have been designed to showcase the distillery’s combinations of spirit style and cask maturation to deliver more unique options for consumers to choose from. Each bottling also carries a unique age statement and is released at its natural colour, non-chill filtered and at premium batch strength.

Returning for its second year, the Glasgow 1770 Bourbon Cask Matured Batch 2 is an 8 Year Old single malt that carries equal levels of the distiller’s peated and unpeated double distilled single malt. The dram is matured exclusively in first-fill Bourbon barrels with tasting notes described as a blend of tropical fruits and delivers notes of vanilla, floral honey, citrus, shortbread and a gentle smoke.

Similarly, the Ruby Port Cask Finish has returned for its second annual release following its sell-out debut in 2025. Now aged at seven years, the whisky has spent almost a full four years finishing in a Ruby Port hogshead barrel following on from an initial maturation in first-fill ex Bourbon barrels.

This extended finish on the whisky has imparted further flavour with layers of summer berries, dark cherries and rich vanilla onto the distillery’s unpeated single malt.

Finishing this trio is the new Glasgow 1770 Sherry Cask Matured Batch 1, a brand-new annual release under Glasgow 1770 and has been created in collaboration with renowned Spanish sherry producer Ximénez-Spínola.

This whisky brings together two of The Glasgow Distillery’s signature whisky styles with two different styles of sherry cask, marrying unpeated single malt with Pedro Ximénez Sherry with peated single malt matured in Medium Sherry Casks.

All three whiskies come with an RRP of £59 and, as with every annual release, is confined to a limited number of bottles with the Bourbon Cask Matured and Sherry Cask Matured limited to 1,600 bottles and only 1,200 bottles for the Ruby Port finish.

Mike Hayward, founder at The Glasgow Distillery, said: “Our annual releases are all about celebrating combinations of whisky style and cask that we believe work exceptionally well together. These are whiskies that have earned a permanent place in our portfolio and, because they’re annual releases with age statements, they’ll continue to evolve as our stocks mature.

“Each expression showcases a different side of our whisky. Bourbon Cask Matured highlights the quality of our spirit with minimal cask influence, Ruby Port demonstrates how extended finishing can build incredible fruit character, while our new Sherry Cask Matured release explores the balance between two of our whisky styles and two exceptional styles of luxurious sherry both created using the Pedro-Ximenez grape variety, from the highly renowned Ximénez-Spínola winery.”
