Darnley’s Gin embraces cocktails in the off-trade

KINGSBARNS gin brand Darnley’s Gin has moved into the RTD category with the launch of its limited edition elderflower gin spritz cans.
A run of only 4,000 cans of Darnley’s Elderflower Gin Spritz are available from the distiller now to deliver a lighter, more botanical serve within the category to match the demand for more summer gatherings and relaxed outdoor opportunities in consumers’ gardens.
The 250ml canned spritz marks the first launch into the RTD category from Darnley’s Gin, part of the family-owned independent spirits firm Wemyss Family Spirits.
The new spritz blends Darnley’s gin together with natural ingredients with fragrant elderflower and Sicilian lemon juice alongside a delicate touch of mint to deliver a fresh and crisp finish on the cocktail.
Each can comes with an ABV of 7% with an RRP of £3.50 per can.
William Wemyss, co-founder of Wemyss Family Spirits, said: “People are becoming much more intentional about what they drink. They want quality and flavour, but they also want serves that fit naturally into the moment rather than turning every occasion into a production.
“A spritz does exactly that. This is light, crisp and easy to serve, but it still carries the botanical character and provenance people expect from our gin.
“Elderflower is not a flavour we picked because it happens to be having a moment. It has been part of Darnley’s story from the beginning and grows around the place that inspired our Original Gin.
“That makes this spritz feel very natural for us. The elderflower brings fragrance, Sicilian lemon gives it brightness and the touch of mint lifts the finish. It tastes like summer, but it is still unmistakably rooted in Darnley’s.”
