Republic Tech moves into new nicotine category

LEADING tobacco accessories supplier Republic Technologies UK is expanding its portfolio with the launch of ZIG – a new entry into the UK nicotine pouches market that’s estimated to be worth more than £198million.
Named with a nod to Republic’s established Zig-Zag brand, ZIG will be available from August. The range consists of 8mg, 12mg and 17mg strengths across six flavours, with an RRP of £4.50 per tub, with each canister containing 20 pouches. The flavours are Berry Cool, Citrus, Ice Mint, Peppermint, Power Mint and Tropical – all developed to align with key consumer flavour preferences identified through brand research.
Flavoured nicotine pouches dominate the UK market, accounting for approximately 94.04% of revenue in 2024, according to Haypp’s 2025 Nicotine Pouch Report. The same research also shows that mint is the leading flavour choice, followed by fruit and citrus, flavours which are contained within the ZIG range to generate maximum sales.
Gavin Anderson, sales drector at Republic Technologies, said: “We’re continuously adapting to the changes in tobacco and vaping legislation and supporting retailers with new products to fulfil shoppers’ needs.
“Following the UK’s ban on disposable vapes, consumers are increasingly turning to alternative nicotine delivery systems. We’re pleased to introduce ZIG to the market. Its bold, vibrant packaging and on-trend flavours are perfectly designed to deliver strong on-shelf standout in a busy sector.
“This is the first time we’ve launched a product in the pouches market. Backed by an already trusted and established leader in tobacco accessories, Republic Technologies, we’re confident that ZIG will resonate with shoppers and drive strong sales for retailers.”
