THE Glasgow Distillery has unveiled its Batch 3 in the Glasgow 1770 Cask Strength series with two new limited edition single-malt expressions.

Available from specialist whisky retailers, the latest releases include Glasgow 1770 Cask Strength The Original Batch 3 as well as the Glasgow 1770 Cask Strength Peated Batch 3.

Drawn straight from the cask without dilution, the series has become a popular range among whisky enthusiasts for offering an unfiltered insight into the distillery’s spirit and cask-led maturation process.

The Glasgow 1770 Cask Strength The Original Batch 3 presents the distillery’s signature unpeated style at natural cask strength of 60% ABV. Produced using double distilled unpeated malt barley, the whisky is matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks before it is finished in a heavily charred Virgin American White Oak barrel.

For this release, the Glasgow Distillery team has limited The Original to just 750 bottles and delivers on notes of Seville orange marmalade, dried apricot, toffee apple and poached pear, alongside tropical fruits, toasted pineapple and warming oak spice. Each bottle comes with an RRP of £65.

Meanwhile, the Glasgow 1770 Cask Strength Peated Batch 3 showcases the firm’s award-winning peated style, produced using peated barley that is matured in a Virgin American White Oak barrel before an extended finish in Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks.

Tasing notes for this tipple have been described as layers of barbecue smoke, tobacco lead and smoked Ibérico ham with grilled pineapple, raisins, dark chocolate and toasted oak. This comes with a slightly higher ABV and RRP of 61% and £67.50.

Mike Hayward, founder of The Glasgow Distillery, said: “Our Cask Strength releases are a chance to present Glasgow 1770 in its most natural and expressive form.

“Batch 3 highlights the depth and versatility of both our unpeated and peated styles, with each release carefully selected to showcase the character of our spirit and the influence of exceptional casks. We’re delighted to share these latest bottlings with whisky lovers.”
