Smoky whisky echoes the smoky tastes of a barbecue

ISLAY whisky brand Smokehead has unveiled a series of new advertisements to tie in with the incoming months of warmer weather.
The promotion will run for two weeks from 23 March and will see the whisky brand make an appearance across bus-side advertisements in key UK cities with Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle and London.
Alongside this physical presence, Smokehead will also make use of a geo-targeted campaign via social media Meta to place the whisky brand front and centre with consumers dependent on location.
Through these advertisements, Ian Macleod Distillers – parent firm to Smokehead – aims to make the brand synonymous with the barbecue season by tying in the expression’s smokey flavour with the smokey aroma of the summer dinner staple.
To do so, the brand has suggested a hero serve for consumers to make the most of during the barbecue season with the Smokehead Paloma. Made using two ingredients, Smokehead whisky and grapefruit soda, the serve offers consumers a bolder and smokier take on the usual tequila-based cocktail.
Smokehead said the new serve balances the expression’s smoky flavours with sour citrus taste that pairs well with grilled food.
A spokesperson for Smokehead said: “This is a serve with attitude: it’s a bold, non-conformist riff on a classic Paloma with the intense smoke, spices, and coastal character of the whisky combining with the citrusy, sour notes of grapefruit to create a drink with backbone to accompany the smoky taste notes in barbecued food, as underlined by the bus side campaign.”
