Scottish vegetable brand Albert Bartlett has unveiled a new limited edition variant of its popular Red Rooster Potatoes with the White Rooster Potatoes.

SCOTTISH vegetables brand Albert Bartlett has rolled out its new limited edition White Rooster Potatoes, sitting alongside its iconic Red Rooster variants.

Available in Sainsbury’s stores, the new White Rooster provides a traditional potato complete with the taste and texture consumers expect from the Red Rooster counterpart, offering an all-round performance in the kitchen.

Thomas McInally, senior brand manager at Albert Bartlett, said: “Our Albert Bartlett Red Rooster has an extremely loyal customer base, however we have always known that some consumers simply won’t buy red potatoes, the addition of White Rooster therefore fits perfectly into the range between the iconic Red Rooster and the modern favourite Butter Gold which has a yellow skin and flesh.

“White Rooster has a taste and usage profile that is extremely similar to Red Rooster, so roast, mash, bake or wedge it will delight every time. This limited-edition run will let us hear from customers what they think of White Rooster, and we are excited to see the response.”

The White Rooster is a natural variant of the much-loved Red Rooster making it an ideal option for consumers seeking to make a creamy mash or crunchy roasties due to its light and fluffy texture. Not only a great all-rounder for kitchens, the potatoes are also a good alternative to traditional Maris Piper potatoes, says Albert Bartlett.

The Albert Bartlett White Rooster Potatoes is available in a 1.5kg pack across Sainsbury’s stores in the UK while stock lasts.

Albert Bartlett has already reported a strong reception to the limited edition packs, with glowing reviews from world-famous chefs.

Michel Roux, owner of the Two-Michelin starred restaurant Le Gavroche in London, said: “I have been a fan of Albert Bartlett potatoes for over twenty years and always looked forward to trying out a new variety.

“After loving their famous Red Roosters for so long, I could not wait to sample the newly released White Rooster variety and suffice to say that they did not disappoint in both texture and taste. Another great product that I look forward to using in both private and professional settings.”
