Record year of charitable giving from Spar colleagues

SYMBOL group Spar Scotland has announced a record year of charitable giving as the firm donated an impressive £200,000 to good causes across 2025.
The total surpasses the 2024 figure which stood at £180,000, marking another strong year of community commitment from the leading symbol group.
Throughout 2025, Spar continued its support of Marie Curie, Spar’s national charity partner, while also donating to hundreds of local causes across Scotland ranging from primary schools, care homes and football clubs to defibrillator units, foodbanks and hospitals.
Funds are raised through a combination of in-store collections and local fundraising events, all backed by Spar Scotland’s colleagues, retailers and customers.
Colin McLean, chief executive at CJ Lang & Son – the wholesaler behind Spar Scotland, said: “We have donated a significant amount to groups large and small across Scotland, where our customers really are our neighbours.
“Our colleagues work and very often live in the local communities where our stores are based, so we really do feel we are part of the local fabric.
“Supporting local people and causes is something we take great pride in, and it is part of what makes SPAR Scotland such a special brand.
“Whether it’s through our national partnership with Marie Curie or the countless local initiatives supported by our stores, we are delighted to make a real difference where it matters most, in the heart of our communities.”
