Isle of Skye distillers Mossburn has unveiled a 12 strong range of rare whisky and rum bottlings with the launch of The Ephemera Collection.

ISLE of Skye-based whisky distiller Mossburn has unveiled a 12-strong rare bottling range called The Ephemera Collection.

This limited edition, one-time release of the rare bottlings comes from the brand’s private cask reserves and aims to delve into Scotland’s rich and storied history to tell the stories of folklore tales and unexpected narratives across the bottles.

Each bottle is linked to a story where the lines between fact and fiction are blurred, from Wandering Willie to the Linton Wyrm, these legends have been passed down generations and now Mossburn is set to tell these tales once again in a truly unique way.

With fewer than 15,000 bottles in total across the full collection, each expression represents a distinctive parcel of spirit that includes Scotch whiskies and rums, held back over the years.

Neil Macleod Mathieson, whiskymaker, said: “We’ve been blending and bottling for over 30 years now, so this collection gave us the chance to share some of the more unusual casks in our archive.

“Each bottling has a point of difference – whether in the grain, malt or cask treatment – and we’ve paired them with stories that suit their style because it felt the perfect way to bring the character of these bottles to life.”
