SCOTTISH convenience retailer Scotmid Co-op has marked 10 years of partnership with St Andrew’s First Aid with a generous donation to the life-saving initiative.

Scotmid has donated £5,000 to the first aid charity, which will go on to help fund the purchase of more vital equipment and support training opportunities in communities across Scotland.

This funding is set to go towards the purchase of updated training resources, including several CPR manikins and defibrillator training units, which will be used to tech essential lifesaving techniques through practical learning opportunities across schools and communities in the country.

Moyra Reid, head of marketing, communications and fundraising at St Andew’s First Aid, said: “We are hugely grateful to Scotmid for their continued commitment and generosity. This donation will allow us to purchase the essential training equipment we need to reach even more people and to deliver even more training.

“Over the past decade, our partnership with Scotmid has enabled us to expand our work across Scotland, ensuring that more communities are confident and prepared to act in a first aid emergency.”

This latest donation cements 10 years of Scotmid’s ongoing support of the first aid charity, during which the two organisations have worked together to support and underpin St Andrew’s First Aid’s ambition to create a nation of lifesavers across Scotland.

Over the past decade, Scotmid has helped to provide more than 1,200 uniforms for new and existing volunteers, fund the purchase of 15 bicycles to support the growth of the cycle response team and facilitated multiple training sessions.

The ongoing support is also set to strengthen St Andrew’s First Aid’s future projects, including its Ready for Life programme which helps to equip young people across Scotland with emergency first aid and mental health awareness skills, boosting their confidence, employability and resilience in doing so.

Lynne Ogg, head of membership & community engagement at Scotmid, said: “Supporting St Andrew’s First Aid over the past ten years has been a privilege. Their volunteers and trainers do extraordinary work in communities every day, and we are proud to play a part in helping them continue that mission. This donation reflects our shared values of care, resilience, and community support.”
