Two of Aberdeen’s best-known brands have collaborated to create a new limited edition stout

Family-run ice-cream company Mackie’s of Scotland has teamed up with craft beer giant BrewDog to launch ‘Two Scoops’, a limited-edition honeycomb stout named, inspired by one of Mackie’s most popular flavours and developed with BrewDog’s award-winning brewing team.
The stout, which launches today in Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Tesco, marks a new direction for both brands as they join forces to highlight the flavour heritage and craft skills that have made them both leaders in their respective fields.
Mackie’s has been making handmade honeycomb on its farm for decades in its very own Sweetie Kitchen. Bringing that flavour into the brewing world, BrewDog has created a rich, smooth stout that highlights honeycomb sweetness while staying true to the bold character of a craft beer.
Stuart Common, managing director at Mackie’s of Scotland, said: “Collaborating with another Aberdeenshire business of BrewDog’s scale and creativity has been hugely rewarding. Honeycomb is part of Mackie’s DNA, and seeing it reimagined in a completely new format shows how versatile the flavour is.
“Two Scoops brings together our shared values of innovation and quality, while also shining a spotlight on the talent that exists right here in the north-east of Scotland.”
James Kemp, director of global brewing at BrewDog, said: “Mackie’s is a household name across Scotland and beyond, and it’s been fantastic to work with them on this project.
“We wanted to create a beer that feels indulgent but still distinctly BrewDog, and honeycomb provided the perfect inspiration. The result is a stout that offers something new for both craft beer lovers and Mackie’s fans alike – it’s a real celebration of Aberdeenshire’s food and drink strengths.”
The collaboration stems from long-standing links between the Mackie’s and BrewDog’s founders, who have connected over shared interests in renewable energy and sustainability, making this partnership a natural extension of their common values.
Mackie’s, which produces its ice cream and chocolate on its Aberdeenshire farm, is known for championing renewable energy, with wind turbines, solar panels and a low-carbon refrigeration system powering its operations.
BrewDog, headquartered in Ellon, has grown into one of the UK’s largest craft brewers, distributing globally and operating an expanding network of bars.
This shared ethos, combined with their strong Aberdeenshire roots, has made the partnership an authentic celebration of the north-east’s reputation for producing high-quality, innovative food and drink. Both businesses share a strong Aberdeenshire identity and a commitment to innovation, making the collaboration a natural fit.
