Wholesaler has put on staff-based events, deals for retail customers and donations to charities
GLASGOW wholesale JW Filshill has reaffirmed its commitment to the retail sector by giving back to its colleagues for its 150th anniversary year.
The firm has taken its time to ensure its staff members have been well-looked after this year and has given thanks to those staff that have been a part of the business’ 150 year legacy.
Craig Brown, chief sales and marketing officer at JW Filshill, said: “We have had a series of events across the year as part of our 150th anniversary. We have had colleague-focused events, some supplier-based and for our customers as well. For our colleagues, we had a family day in Finlaystone Country Park and it gave our staff the chance to have a day out with their family and their children.
“We put on a day with loads of activities for the kids and wellbeing initiatives as well to ensure our staff continue to be well looked after.”
KeyStore customers with Filshill have also reaped the benefits of its 150th year, through some exclusive trade deals and supplier support.
Brown said: “We tied up with AG Barr on its 150th anniversary as well and got exclusive access to their new flavour for our customers, which means we had a joint celebration of these two Scottish firms.
“We’re running a three-weekly trade leaflet for our customers as well which has been upweighted to support them during our 150th. And most recently, we worked with the Healthy Living Programme to provide a new meal kit initiative to 150 KeyStore stores.”
Further to this, Filshill has been giving back to local communities across Scotland by providing funding for six charities that have been selected by their colleagues.
Brown said: “We want to raise £150,000 collectively in our 150th year to support these six charities. We also wanted to spread out this support as far as it could go, so instead of supporting just one charity, we let our colleagues choose six different ones to ensure we could help as many people as possible.”
All of this is set to culminate on 9 October for the Filshill Gala Dinner, which will see colleagues, customers and suppliers come together to mark the 150 years of the business and learn more about what the future holds.
Signs of the success that the future holds for the firm can be seen today however, and paves a clear path for Filshill’s goal to reach £350million in turnover and have 500 KeyStores in operation by 2031.
Brown said: “We want to remain a family business that is for families for time to come. This co-prosperity model ensures that everyone benefits from it, across our customers, suppliers and colleagues.”
