Helping the next generation to further their education with Leverhulme

THE Leverhulme Trade Charities Trust (LTCT) has announced that applications for 2025/26 undergraduate bursaries have now opened for the families of those working in the convenience sector.
Running until 15 October, families of those working in the convenience, grocery and pharmacy trades have opened up applications to students, whose parent or carer is employed in an eligible profession within these sectors, to receive up to £3,000 in financial aid. This bursary can be put toward tuition fees or other expenses such as course materials, equipment or travel costs.
Over the last five years, LTCT has awarded more than 1,600 undergraduates and 350 postgraduate bursaries across 150 different institutions. Overall, a total of £10.7million has been distributed to students across the UK.
With university costs continuing to rise year after year, the bursary is there to support those families who might be worried about how to fund their child’s next step and help ensure that no one misses out on the chance to fulfil their academic potential.
In addition to the undergraduate bursary scheme, LTCT has also opened up applications for its postgraduate scheme for those who are keen to return to university. This closes on 1 September.
Professor Anna Vignoles, director of LTCT, said: “This is one of the most exciting times of the year at LTCT, as we prepare for a new wave of undergraduate bursary applicants, seeking to join the ranks of universities nationwide. Each successful award means another student will be that bit closer to their goals and we’re proud to play a part in that journey.
“Opening access to further education is vital for the grocery and pharmacy trades, as we know that easing financial pressure can make all the difference. If you or someone in your family works in these sectors, we’d strongly encourage you to apply. Applications are now open, so don’t miss it.”
