LOCAL shops have been notified about illegal Jolly Rancher sweets that must be removed from sale immediately.
Food Standards Scotland has said that Jolly Rancher confectionery products that have been manufactured by ‘The Hershey Company‘ in Canada have been found to contain mineral oil.
These products could be damaging to health, particularly with children, and the products were never intended for the UK market and are illegal to sell here.
Products affected by this and must now be removed from sale are:
- Jolly Rancher Hard candyÂ
- Jolly Rancher ‘Misfits’ gummiesÂ
- Jolly Rancher Hard Candy Fruity 2 in 1
- Jolly Ranchers Berry Gummies
The withdrawal covers all pack sizes, dates and batches for the above products.
These products, when manufactured, were intended for global markets but as they contain mineral oil, they are not legal for sale in the UK.
The use of mineral oil in food has been been authorised in accordance food standard regulations in the UK.
The Hershey Company has stopped trading Herhsey’s brand Jolly Ranchers products in the UK, excluding Sours, Ice Pops and Slushies as these are all compliant with UK food standard laws.
