Fruity solution to shake up kids’ snacks market

KIDS fruit snacks brand Bear is set to shake up the category with a double launch including some NPD and a new format.
First up, Bear has unveiled its new Mango & Sour Berry Fruit Splits variant that has been developed with older children in mind with a target audience of six to 10 year olds.
As is the case with the rest of the range, each Fruit Splits has been made using real fruit and counts as one of your five-a-day. Further to this, each Splits is high in fibre and contains no added sugar to deliver a fun, interactive snack for kids to peel, twist and squish together.
Each pack includes a new collectible Super Science Bear Card as well, a new addition to the iconic Bear cards feature that children will already know and enjoy. These cards can also be stored on the Bear Adventure App as well. The new Bear Fruit Splits Mango & Sour Berry will roll out across Sainsbury’s with an RRP of £2.85.
To help support this launch, Bear has kicked off an extensive marketing campaign, including social media activations and targeted advertising to help drive up awareness and consumer engagement.
Jo Agnew, marketing director at parent firm Natural Foods UK, said: “Building on the success of our Fruit Splits range, including fan favourites like Strawberry & Apple and Raspberry & Pineapple, the new Mango & Sour Berry variant delivers a bold, tangy burst of flavour that’s sure to grab the attention of older kids.
“Demand for sour flavours is surging, especially among ‘grown-up’ kids, driving growth across the confectionery sector in the UK and beyond. We’re excited to bring this trend into the fruit snacking category with Bear Fruit Splits Mango & Sour Berry, giving kids an exciting flavour they can really feel good about eating.”
Following up on the NPD, Natural Foods has also expanded on its Fruit YoYos range with a new Grab Bag format in a bid to meet the demand for more convenient, on-the-go nutritious snacks for kids.
Each pack contains 12 individually wrapped YoYos and aims to offer a healthy snacking solution for those busier families. Each bag comes with an RRP of £3.50.
Agnew said: “Whether it’s for travel, children’s parties or family outings, the new format ensures kids can enjoy and share nutritious, fun snacks anytime and anywhere. Each pack also features a brand-new mini Bear card with a QR code, offering cubs a puzzle to solve on the Bear Adventure App.”
