Disrupt the free-from market with a Scottish Favourite

SCOTTISH free-from brand Three Robins has marked its Scotmid’s Scottish Favourites competition win with the roll out of its new Oat Mylk line.
Set to roll out across 177 Scotmid stores from 26 February, the two core Oat Mylk drinks come in two variants consisting of Barista Oat and Choccoriffic to help provide a tasty and affordable option for consumers who have a restricted diet.
Launched in 2022 by founder Karen Robinson, Three Robins came about after Robinson could not found a credible, plant-based milk for her lactose intolerant son to enjoy and decided to take matters into her own hands.
Since then, Robinson has taken the initiative to improve on the brand’s recipes by removing sugar from its original Chocolate Milk variant as well as the acidity regulator from the Barista Oat drink, further underpinning the all-natural credentials of the drink.
Further to this, the brand has also shifted over to using 100% “best-in-class” Scottish oats in its production with a new look across packs to help improve stand out on shelf for Three Robins and encompass a family appeal.
Robinson said: “We may be a new voice in the chiller, but thanks to timely grants from the likes of Scottish Enterprise, Food & Drink Federation Scotland and Missions Ventures we have been to fast-track our range evolution.
“Of course, budgetary support is invaluable but we place just as much credit to like-minded voices who’ve been on hand to sense-check our thinking and provide moral support – Buy Women Built, The Kids Food Collective and Female Founders Rise.”
The new Oat Mylk products will be displayed prominently for a period of weeks across Scotmid stores as part of the Scottish Favourites competition, helping to introduce the brand to more families across the country.
Both Three Robins Barista Oat Mylk and Three Robins Choccoriffic Oat Mylk will feature as part of this promotion, alongside the Three Robins Smoothie Pouches range – which come in Totally Tropical and Super Berry variants.
The Barista Oat Mylk will retail for £2.50 with a special introductory price of £2.25, whilst the Choccoriffic variant will sit at £2.75, with a promotional price of £2.50. Similarly, the Smoothie Pouches will both retail for £1.50 each, with an introductory price of £1.25 until 25 March.
Speaking on the new listings, Steve Addison, local sourcing manager at Scotmid, said: “Karen’s career transformation is an inspiring example of how passion and determination can lead to great success.
“Her products will resonate with consumers; we are proud to have Three Robins in our stores. It’s businesses like Three Robins that align perfectly with Scotmid’s mission to support local innovation and provide customers with healthy, family-friendly products.”
