As the winter weather settles in and plenty of shoppers feel the chill, Mars reckons its Galaxy Hot Chocolate drinks could go down a treat.

HOT chocolate can be the perfect indulgent treat during the winter months, offering a sweet way to ensure consumers can warm up as the weather turns bitter.

It’s why during these frosty months consumers value having hot chocolate powder in the cupboard, ready to help fight off the winter blues or to help warm them up after getting caught in a downpour.

And it seems, when it comes to hot chocolate at least, branded options are the way to go, with many shoppers choosing an option they are already well-acquainted with from the confectionery aisle.

This spells good news for firms such as Mars Chocolate Drinks & Treats (MCD&T), which reckons its own range of branded hot chocolate options will be every consumers’ cup of tea this season.

Michelle Frost, general manager at MCD&T, said: “With brands contributing significant value to the overall category, with £4 in every £5 spent on hot milky drinks spent on brands, our Galaxy and Maltesers Instant Hot Chocolate jars continue to attract repeat shoppers to the hot chocolate aisle.

“To entice new shoppers and gain incremental sales, we also use the strength of these renowned brands in different formats such as sachets, jars, drinking chocolate and pods.

“As Galaxy hot chocolate celebrated 25 years in 2024, we are delighted to see that it remains as popular as ever. Galaxy Instant hot chocolate remains our portfolio hero as sales in Scotland have soared by 26% year-on-year.”
