Don’t be afraid to seek help during stressful festivities
WHILE the Christmas season brings plenty of reasons to celebrate and be happy, it is also one of the most stressful times of the year.
For many members of the retail community, the festive period means more time spent working while bills rack up on top of shopping for loved ones.
And, for those struggling the most, it can often feel as though there is little support around to count on.
That’s why industry charity GroceryAid has taken the time to remind retail colleagues to ensure they look after themselves during the Christmas season.
The charity helps grocery workers and their families during difficult times and offers a range of financial, emotional and practical support to do so. This includes support for people facing stress, anxiety, low mood or loneliness, all of which can hang over people’s heads during Christmas.
With this in mind, GroceryAid has said that anyone feeling this way can reach out to the charity and receive some much needed support. The charity’s free helpline is available 24/7, 365 days of the year, including on Christmas Day, and is answered by trained counsellors.
For those struggling this year, you can call 08088 021 122 or visit groceryaid.org.uk/get-help.
Kieran Hemsworth, chief executive at GroceryAid, said: “The festive period is a golden time for the sector but, of course, along with an increase in trade comes an increase in pressure.
“Across the industry, workers are stepping up the pace to keep shelves stocked and customers happy. We know this can sometimes lead to feeling overwhelmed, especially when everything else, from social engagements to family responsibilities, are also at full throttle.
“This is a reminder that if you’re struggling this year, we are here for you.”
