Let your voice be heard in new survey

The ACS is calling on convenience retailers to respond to its annual Crime Survey, ahead of the launch of its 2025 Crime Report next year.

THE Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) is calling on convenience store retailers across the UK to take part in its annual Crime Survey.

The survey will aid in highlighting the impact of crime in the convenience sector, says the ACS, and open up discussions about the experience retailers have been dealing with over 2024.

ACS is urging both small and large convenience store retailers to take part in the survey, and the findings will eventually be published as part of the industry body’s ACS Crime Report in 2025.

This report will then be used to inform MPs, police and other decision makers about the reality c-store owners are facing on a daily basis.

The ACS said the 2024 Crime Report was widely reported across the media and was used in raising about the significant gap between official Office for National Statistics figures on reported crimes and the retailer feedback on the number of crimes that are actually taking place.

To take part in the survey, retailers can click on this link to talk about their own experiences. The survey takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete and closes on 17 January 2025. A pdf version can also be found here.

James Lowman, chief executive at the ACS, said: “We urge everyone in the convenience sector to respond to our Crime Survey, whatever their experiences of crime have been over the last year.

“We have made progress in raising the profile of shop theft and abuse against retailers, but there is much more to do to make sure theft is treated as a crime and investigated every time it’s reported.”
