Forecourt retailers can get up to speed at Scottish event
SCOTTISH forecourt operators will have the chance to find out all about the latest developments in the sector at a Petrol Retailers Association (PRA) Roadshow later this month.
The event at the Radstone Hotel in Larkhall, Lanarkshire, on Thursday 24 October is open to everyone in the industry and free to attend.
Running from 10.30am to 4.30pm, the get-together is set to cover topics such as the transition to a low-carbon transport system, increased Government scrutiny on fuel prices, changes in technology and shifts in consumer habits.
The PRA and Car Wash Association (CWA) will give a market update, while Christie & Co will provide the latest property sector insights.
Other presentations will come from DoubleCool on energy-saving chiller solutions, Gulf on services for dealers, Facewatch and Forecourt Eye on crime, and Henderson technology on cutting-edge EPOS systems.
Among the exhibitors are firms providing fuel supply services, car wash systems, EPOS and back-office solutions, construction and project management, and laundry machines.
PRA and CWA executive director Gordon Balmer said: “The roadshow provides an opportunity to meet with over 25 companies, network with major suppliers, meet with like-minded retailers and to hear our presentations.
“We also provide free refreshments, lunch and parking. So I look forward to seeing many Scottish forecourt retailers on the day.”
Those interested in attending can register online at www.ukpra.co.uk via the events tab, email lou.woods@rmif.co.uk or call the PRA on 01788 538302.
Ahead of the roadshow, the PRA has been busy fighting for the interests of its members.
It has called on Chancellor Rachel Reeves to rule out an increase on fuel duty in the run-up to the Autumn Budget on 30 October, warning that Government-driven price rises at the pumps would lead to inflation in the UK economy.
Work is also ongoing with the DVLA to create a quicker, electronic service for retailers to access vehicle keeper details in cases of fuel theft that would improve recovery rates and save forecourts thousands of pounds a year.
And, following its sustained pressure, the CWA has welcomed Home Secretary Yvette Cooper’s initiative to target non-compliant hand car washes employing people who do not have the right to work in the UK.
