Pernod adds new Spanish wines options to portfolio
LICENSED drinks giant Pernod Ricard has introduced a new Spanish wine brand to its expansive portfolio.
Available in two variants, the new Tapabrava aims to tap into the Spanish delicacy of a tapas dinner.
Coming in a Red Blend option as well as a White Blend, the new Tapabrava wine has an RRP of £8 and is available from Asda and Tesco stores now.
Pernod has described the Red Blend – ABV 12.5% – as a round, pleasant and warm wine, with an intense fruit-forward flavour of red berries and sweet spices.
Meanwhile the 11.4% ABV White Blend has been called a bright, pale wine with citrus and floral notes of white peach and apricot.
Pernod aims to bring the new wines to a younger generation of drinkers who are keen to explore food and wine pairings. Further to this, there is a chance to drive up extra spend as Nielsen IQ found that 54% of red blends sold in the UK off-trade in 2023 were premium-plus brands.
Lucy Bearman, brand director at Pernod Ricard UK, said: “Our target audience enjoy quality over quantity and they are always on the lookout for a good deal.
“They like entertaining at home, often cooking new meals and choosing new wines to complement food.
“Both variants of Tapabrava have distinct characteristics, and an approachable style, from the intense and fruit-forward nature of the red blend to the bright and citric notes of the white blend.”
