WHOLESALER Bestway is gearing up for its second Retail Showcase, following last year’s successful event.

More than 800 retailers, including Costcutter and Best-One operators, are expected to attend.

Among the 140 suppliers exhibiting will be Diageo, Budweiser Brewing Group, CCEP, Britvic, Red Bull, Suntory, AG Barr, Mars, JTI and Philip Morris Ltd.

Retailers will be able to enjoy interactive events, experiential zones, food and drink tastings, presentations on best practice, workshops and networking events, as well as get category insights and see the latest technology.

The event is taking place at the CBS Arena in Coventry on Wednesday, 15 May.

Bestway boss Dawood Pervez said: “The showcase is a major investment into our retailer estate but one that we know our retailers value as it supports their future growth and profit.”

SGF highlights new MUP calculator

THE Scottish Grocers’ Federation (SGF) has launched a new online calculator to support retailers with changes to the set rate on minimum unit pricing (MUP).

The SGF MUP Calculator is free to use, providing an easy accessible scale slider that will show retailers both the current price as well as the new price of 65p per unit, which is set to roll out this September.

Pete Cheema, chief executive at the SGF, said: “From the end of September, however, anyone selling alcohol in Scotland is under obligation to sell at the new minimum unit price.

“Our revamped online calculator will give members and colleague across the sector the tools they need to update their prices ahead of the changeover.”
