INDEPENDENT retailer group Margiotta has installed 950 solar panels at its headquarters thanks to £300,000 HSBC funding.

The installation will allow the family-owned business to power its office, warehouse and produce refrigeration at the site in Newbridge, Edinburgh – cutting costs and reducing its carbon footprint.

During the longer days of spring and summer, any surplus electricity will be sold to the national grid.

Finance director Iain Wells said: “The solar panels will make a significant difference in the long run as they will reduce our costings and make us more self-sufficient.”
